The World We Will Build

The World We Will Build invites children to imagine, design, and express their hopes as Singapore’s visionary architects. Set in the year 2225, it envisions a future where nature and technology exist in perfect harmony—futuristic skyscrapers pulse with life, alive with native flora and fauna. The city hums as one, a seamless blend of human innovation and the natural world.

At the heart of this surreal Wisdom Forest, a central tree whispers softly—ambient echoes of imagined futures, spoken dreams, and Singapore’s shared aspirations. Children bring the forest to life by inscribing their hopes on paper leaves that shimmer among its branches. This tree grows not from sunlight or rain, but from imagination, empathy, and care.

Nestled within the forest are miniature worlds and homes—child-crafted visions of Singapore 2225, where communities thrive in balance with nature. These creations transform familiar places into living, breathing environments that glow, grow, and evolve with the people who inhabit them. Drawing inspiration from early 2000s pop culture and sci-fi cinema, the installation envisions a Singapore of tomorrow—shaped not by steel alone, but by vision, play, and wonder.

The World We Will Build: Make Your Own Mini Diorama! | $15/ pax | 1 hr | Mix-Media Diorama
Step into the year 2225 and bring your imagination to life! Inspired by The World We Will Build installation, this creative, hands-on workshop invites children to design and build their own miniature diorama of a futuristic home. Using paper boxes, coloured papers, paint markers, and clay, participants will craft imaginative interiors that reflect their dreams for the world of tomorrow.

What might our homes look like in the future? Will they feature friendly robots, floating gardens, or familiar technologies reinvented in surprising ways? Guided by Art Wonderland’s experienced facilitators, children will explore ideas of innovation, sustainability, and creativity, transforming small boxes into vibrant worlds that tell their own stories.

An immersive hour of art-making and storytelling, this workshop invites young creators to dream, design, and build the future—one diorama at a time.

Build Your Future Self | Free | 10-15-mins | Fringe Activity
​
Step into the year 2225 and bring your imagination to life! In this hands-on puppet-making workshop, children create playful avatars of their future selves—from engineers and doctors to artists, actors, and dreamers yet to be named.
​
Participants will cut, decorate, and assemble their puppets with colourful details and movable limbs, giving each creation a unique personality and story. Fun, quick, and inspiring, this workshop celebrates creativity, aspiration, and self-expression, inviting every child to dream boldly about who they might become.

The Future We Will Grow | Free | 5-10mins | Fringe Activity
​
Children are invited to step into the year 2225 and imagine a Singapore filled with green cities, caring communities, and boundless creativity. In this interactive activity, they will write or draw their hopes on leaf-shaped paper, dreaming up ideas like “floating parks above the sea” or “buildings that grow food for everyone.” Each leaf will then be added to the Tree of Wisdom, creating a shimmering canopy of collective dreams — a living artwork that celebrates the imagination, empathy, and hope of our future generations.
